What are BHA's??

Hey guys!!! The other day I spoke about AHA's and the different types of AHA's and now it is BHA's.  BHA's(Beta Hydroxy Acids) can get deeper into the pores to remove dead skin cells and excess sebum. It is oil-soluble so it allows it to penetrate deep into the pores and gently breaks up blockages that clogs your pores. That will help with lessening your acne and less visible pores. If you have blackheads, on your nose especially, it can help getting rid of them without damaging your skin like the Biore pore strips do. Also prevents new ones from forming. It could also help with Keratosis Pilaris(KP) in body washes or even body lotions/butters. BHA's are good for all skin types, but especially oily, acne prone skin. Salicylic Acid Salicylic Acid is the most well known out of all of them. It helps reduce acne by exfoliating the skin and keeping the pores clear. It helps with mild acne, blackheads and whiteheads, can help prevent future breakouts.  Tropic Acid, Tret...

What Are AHA's??

Hey guys!!! AHA's(Alpha Hydroxy Acids) is water-soluble, exfoliates dead skin cells from the surface of the skin, reveals healthy looking skin, and it is suitable for all skin types. It helps stimulate collagen, hydrates the skin, brightens the skin, helps lessen skin texture, helps with acne scars, signs of sun damage, and dark spots. There are different types of AHA's out there.  Glycolic Acid Glycolic acid is the most well known and is used in skin care and is also used by a professional in a chemical peel.  It is either used alone in a skincare product or combined with another AHA ingredients at concentrations of 5% and up. It helps to enhance skin's firmness and resilience while softening signs of sun damage.  The size of this acid allows it to penetrate the uppermost layers of the skin to reveal better looking skin. Also it hydrates the skin, and basically helps the skin retain the natural moisture. Glycolic acid can be derived from sugar cane, but they only u...

What is the difference between Chemical & Physical Exfoliants??

Hey guys!! What is exfoliation for? Your skin regenerates every 28 days or so and sun exposure and aging slows that process down. That is where exfoliation is key. It removes dead skin cells, brighten your skin complexion, and fades acne scars.  Getting rid of your dead skin cells is very important because it can help prevent bacteria, dirt, and sweat from getting stuck underneath the skin's surface. It can also help prevent and treat acne and inflamed pores.  What type of exfoliations are there? There are two types of exfoliations. Physical and Chemical. Physical Exfoliation Physical exfoliation is my least favorite and I do not recommend. Here is why. Physical exfoliant products uses micro-sized grains, beads, and particles to remove dead skin cells. Basically anything that scrubs at your skin like tiny granules. It is made of coffee grounds, walnut shell powder, sugar, rice, and salt. Other examples of physical exfoliation are a cleansing brush, a konjac sponge, a clo...

The INKEY List Caffeine Eye Cream & Heritage Store Rosewater Spray

Hey guys!!! These are the last couple of products from my skincare routine. As for eye cream, a lot of people have different opinions about eye creams. Is it necessary or not in a skincare routine?? Honestly, for me it is and it isn't. Eye cream does have some different ingredients directed at the eye area, but you can use your moisturizer if you can't afford to buy another product. I love using eye cream especially when I am doing my makeup so my concealer can look good. The INKEY List Caffeine Eye Cream I have tried many eye creams and I have had favorites, but after learning about ingredients my favorites list is basically none. This eye cream is a gel consistency, blends into the eye cream, and its only a little hydrating. I don't really get puffy eyes so I can't really test that claim. I can have my mom test it later on I will update this later once she tries it. I use this right after toner. I use a a pea size amount on my ring finger, and massage it on my under ...

CoTz Face Prime & Protect Tinted SPF 40

Hey guys!! Now for the most important product in my skincare routine. My sunscreen.  I have been looking for my perfect sunscreen for a while and there was a lot of misses for me. I would break out sometimes the day I use it or a couple days after.  I actually almost gave up in finding a sunscreen because I kept spending money and finding nothing that worked for me. After I spoke to MadiHearts during a consult she recommended this sunscreen to me. CoTz Face Prime & Protect Tinted SPF 40 As I mentioned in my previous sunscreens post , I realized that for my skin type physical/mineral sunscreens are best for me.   The brand CoTz is reef friendly, water resistant, preservative free, no animal testing, mineral protection, and gluten free. What intrigued me about this product was that it is a sunscreen and a primer in one(I don't believe primers are necessary). I tested the sunscreen out first and after a couple weeks I decided to apply makeup on top. My skin lo...

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10%+HA & 100% Plant-Derived Squalane

Hey guys!!! Next couple of products from my skincare routine are from The Ordinary. For a long time I was afraid to use these type of oil products because before the ones I tried out broke me out so bad. After trying these I realized that the oils I tried before were filled with bad ingredients and very long ingredients list.  The longer the ingredient list the more chance of irritation. Keep that in mind. Mandelic Acid 10%+HA I had tried only a few exfoliants in my time. The recent one was the Paula's Choice 2% BHA toner and I was noticing that one was drying me skin out and making my skin feel sensitive after almost a year of using it I decided to go with Mandelic Acid since it is the most gentle exfoliant there is. It is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid and it is larger in molecular weight. The large size allows the MA to penetrate the skin more slowly which makes it very gentle and good for all skin types. (in a future post I will go more in depth about exfoliants) I use this two t...

Honest Beauty Calm On Foaming Cleanser & Hydrogel Cream

Hey guys!!!  The next couple products from my skincare routine are from Honest Beauty.  Calm On Foaming Cream Cleanser It is a very thick, and creamy formula that finishes cleansing my face. It cleanses my skin very well and my skin doesn't feel tight afterwards. It does foam up, but not too much.  I apply it to a wet face and I message it into my skin for 60 seconds. Rinse it off and pat my face dry with a face cloth. It is safe for easily irritated, sensitive skin, vegan, and fragrance free. It is "formulated with their Calming Phyto-Blend that contains micro hyaluronic acid to draw moisture in, and amino acids that support the skin's natural barrier for balance and hydration."  Ingredients that stood out: two types of hyaluronic acid, Linoleic acid(strengthen skin barrier), and Sodium PCA(hydrate skin). If you are interested in trying this product you can get it from Honest Beauty , Ulta , and Target online.  Honest Beauty Hydrogel Cream When I first ...
